PSOne Fun

Recently, I received/picked up a few PS1 games:

Breaker Pro (for playing PS1 imports)
ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), v. fine, complete, $1.30
Wipeout, near mint, complete, $6
Wipeout 3, mint, complete, $6
Tobal 2, near mint, complete, $12

ジョジョの奇妙な冒険: I totally passed up JoJo back when it first came out. Seems kind of weird since I love 2D fighters. This one is definitely different in its fighting system and it is pretty good at that.

Wipeout & Wipeout 3: Until I recently snatched up Wipeout 1, XL, and 3, the only previous experience with the series was back in 1995 when I first got my PS1 and played the Wipeout demo. It’s a shame since I am enjoying them quite a bit now, knowing I passed them up the first time around. My favorite thing about the first Wipeout is that the copy I now have is in amazing condition and it is also still in an original cardboard longbox! Not even a plastic one. The only game I ever owned at the time that was in a cardboard longbox was NBA In The Zone.

Tobal 2: I was a fan of the original Tobal. When the sequel was getting rave reviews from tons of magazines here in the U.S., I was very disappointed that it wasn’t going to come out here. Here I am, nearly 9 years since its release and I am finally able to enjoy it!

Quick Shipping!

Just two days after I ordered my Swap Magic and flip-top, it was already in my hands! The installation of the flip-top was fairly smooth. Most of it was just using two different sized screwdrivers to do the job.

I did put some time in with Naruto: Narutimett Hero 3. It is quite a fun game. Reminds me a lot of Super Smash Bros. with its gameplay, but with much more style. Very simple controls and a whole lot of unlockable content. The game’s main mode is the RPG mode, which is where most of the content is unlocked from. More than half of the selectable charcters need to be unlocked in order to play as them. I will be putting in more play on this game and see all that there is to offer.

Video Game Collecting

Within the last month or so, I decided to start collecting video games. I have been gaming since the Atari 2600 days and it seems weird to me that I didn’t start doing it sooner. Recently I came across a site that is strictly for video game collectors to show off their stuff. Some of the items people have are really cool, like the Panasonic Q which is a multi-region DVD player and Nintendo GameCube in one! This is what got me to make the decision to start collecting myself. Also, I am a part of a GameSpot union called The Candid Collectors Union. It is a great place to read about others’ collecting and to post about your own collection plus other topics of interest relating to video game collecting.

The systems I have started to collect for are: TurboGrafx-16, Nintendo 64, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and Sega Saturn.

Within the last month I have acquired the following:

Sega Saturn pad for PS2 (white), new, $32
Resident Evil 4, PS2, new, $40
Naruto: Narutimett Hero 3, PS2, new, $60
Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution , PS2, new, $9
Jak 3, PS2, new, $20
Soul Blade, PS1, fine, complete, $6
Wipeout XL, PS1, mint, complete, $5
Sony PS1 Memory Card (black), near mint, $3

Much more to come, especially on the Saturn and import PS2 front!
