Our fear of death makes us play safe, blocks out emotion. It’s a losing game.

Takahashi Meijin no Bugtte Honey (FC) – A game that seemingly forces you to play an Arkanoid clone in order to collect letters to spell out a “password” in order to complete a level. It’s tedious and stupid.

Super Mario World (SNES) – I was going to link the title of this one to a video like I always do, but everyone knows this game and how great it is so there’s nothing to say here except that I finally own it.

Batman Returns (SNES) – A very good beat-’em-up by Konami based on the film of the same name.

Games I Played Recently

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (XB) – A very good, enjoyable follow-up to the original Max Payne. The gameplay was still largely the same as the first, but with a slightly tweaked bullet time mechanic where the more enemies you kill while in it, the more bullet time gained and the more it slows down for them. I didn’t find the story to be as interesting as the first game’s, but good nonetheless.

Hoshi no Kirby 3 (SFC) – This is also known as Kirby’s Dream Land 3 and is a solid Kirby platformer for the 16-bit Super Nintendo. I am usually not bothered by a game’s short length, but this one is criminally under par. Still worthwhile if you are a big Kirby fan, but only if you are fine with spending ~$30 for cart only since this game is pretty rare.

Super Aleste (SFC) – Compile was a great developer of shmups back in the late 1980s and early 1990s on various systems. Like most of their games in the genre they have a tendency to pour on the powerups and this game is no exception! Lots of great ones so you’ll definitely find at least a few you like. I almost finished this game on 1 credit, but the final boss made sure that wasn’t going to happen!
